Geraldine (Maynard) Cornette
1948—2022

Geraldine (Maynard) Cornette, 73, of Naugatuck, W.Va., passed away Aug. 8, 2022, at her residence.

Born Aug. 13, 1948, in Inez, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Gracie Maynard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Cornette, three brothers, William Maynard, Edward Maynard and Jimmy Maynard, and two sisters, Brenda Maynard and Patty Blackburn.

She is survived by five brothers, Jesse Maynard Jr., Lonnie Maynard, both of Louisa, Jeff Maynard of Warfield, John Maynard of Michigan, Darrell Maynard of Inez and six sisters, Rosalean Chaffin of South Carolina, Kathryn Muncy of Johnson County, Nola Haug of Howard, Ohio, Lois Lawson, Lucille Rose and Wanda Davis, all of Inez. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Geraldine spent the past several months surrounded by family and many people that loved and cared for her, at her home. During these months, Eddie Sheppard, Cecil and Katrina (Workman) Ferguson, George and Teresa (Spradlin) Hignite and Faddus Sheppard provided much love, care and support. Geraldine loved and thought the world of her extended family.

Geraldine didn’t have her own children, but she loved many as hers and they loved her. Her door was always open to anyone in need. Over the years, she cared for many loved ones during their last days. She was willing to help anyone. She left this world peacefully, totally dependent on God.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, in the Crum Funeral Home chapel, with Doc Maynard and David Bowens officiating. Burial was in the Maynard Cemetery, under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
