LOUISVILLE — Martin County High School’s Peyton Davis caught the attention of college coaches during the Kentuckiana Hoops Camp in Louisville.

A total of 186 players attended the camp, ranging in grades 9-12 from all across the state. Davis managed a spectacular rating of 42. Out of 36 kids in the 2025 class, Davis was ranked No. 3 at Kentuckiana, behind only two players that are 6’6 and 6’8. His defense, in particular, stood out to the scouts and staff.

Five college coaches approached him after his stellar performance.

One of those coaches was Austin Sparrow from Harrodsburg University. Davis’ play impressed him enough to extend an invite to play at the Harrodsburg University Elite Camp the next day.

Coach Sparrow told Davis’ father Billy Davis that he loves how physical the young Davis is, especially against guys half a head taller than him.

Davis is known for not backing down to anyone, and he continued that by giving two 7-footers a run for their money.

On Tuesday, he trained with Ryan Goodson in Tennessee. Goodson, one of the top basketball trainers on the East Coast, has worked with Trae Young, a guard for the Atlanta Hawks and many other top athletes.

Davis will only be a sophomore this upcoming season for Martin County coach Jason James. He has a high ceiling and plenty of time to reach it. With his work ethic, the sky is the limit.
