INEZ — The Martin County High School volleyball team hosted the first of two youth clinics Saturday. Eleven girls came out to learn serving and passing skills.
Coach Katie White-Patrick was ecstatic with the girls’ performance.
“We could see improvement in every single player that attended,” Patrick said. “They really put in the work for us yesterday. “
After the girls learned the basic fundamentals of proper form, they divided into teams and scrimmaged. Members of the high school volleyball team served as coaches.
“It was a great experience for my team to work with the future of Cardinal volleyball,” said Patrick.
The team has been lifting weights and practicing all week.
According to Coach Patrick, she is already seeing improvements since the team worked with Morehead State last week.
“They’re giving 110% in drills and they’re communicating so well with one another on the court.”
The second clinic will take place Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Martin County High School gymnasium. This will focus on setting and hitting. Each attendee will receive a T-shirt included with the $20 fee.
