Roscoe ‘Poppy’ Spaulding
1945—2022
Roscoe “Poppy” Spaulding 76, of Stepptown, W.Va., passed away Friday, July 22, 2022, at his home.
Born Aug. 27, 1945, in Wayne County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lonnie and Mae Marcum Spaulding. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandsons Kyler and Wilder Ross Holyfield and siblings Lucretia Spaulding, Cleo Spaulding, Rebecca Ann (Ira) Messer, Sherman (Lula) Spaulding, Alonzo (Delores) Spaulding and Jackie Dell Spaulding.
Survivors include Roscoe’s loving wife, Jacalyn Marcum Spaulding; three children, Roscoe (Sara) Spaulding Jr. of Ashland, Whitney (Jamie) Copley of Stepptown, W.Va., and Ashlee (Jason) Holyfield of Lenore, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Channing (Kabrina) Spaulding, Trevor Copley, Trenton Copley, Jake Copley, Kendal Holyfield, Karrigan Holyfield and Tanner Holyfield; and two great-grandchildren, Rayanna Spaulding and Greeley Spaulding. Additional survivors include his siblings, Wallace (Sue) Spaulding, Alex (Judy) Spaulding and Jesse (Lushie) Spaulding, all of Crum, W.Va., and Pollie Mae (Loy) Dunnigan of Mount Gilead, Ohio; a special niece, April Lynn Spaulding; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Callaham Funeral Home in Inez, with Bruce Justice officiating. Burial was at the Spaulding Cemetery, under the direction of Callaham Funeral Home.
