GEORGETOWN — Harper Runyon, Kenleigh Estepp and Macie Callaham played on the 8U Revolution softball team July 2 in Georgetown and came home with some rings.
The Hitting Bombs Softball Tournament was hosted by the Wrath Fastpitch squad at Marshall Park. Zach Callaham and his assistants Billy Cornett, Kyle Runyon and Scott “Shoes” Hale organized the team.
After finding out that a girl on the Wrath team has cancer at 10 years old, Callaham wanted to enter the tournament for the girls to show their support. All proceeds went to the family for her treatment.
Their first game was pool play against the Winchester Rampage. Revolution won in a big way 13-3.
The next matchup was neck and neck, with the EKY Batcats winning 8-7.
This earned the EKY Revolution a four seed for the tournament. They avenged their earlier loss and took down the Batcats 11-7 to advance to the championship game.
The ladies from Revolution put up a good fight against the one seed but came up short 6-12 to become the runner-up.
Harper Runyon and Macie Callaham went for 7-8 at the plate for the weekend. Kenleigh Estep notched 6 of 8 at-bats over four games.
