Forrest Gene Horn Obituary

Forrest Gene Horn

1933—2022

Forrest Gene Horn, 88, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at home.

Gene, as he was known to friends and family, was born July 24, 1933, in Inez. He moved to Columbus, Ohio, early in his adult life and had a long successful career as a carpenter.

Gene had a passion for carpentry and building things with his hands. He could often be spotted in his garage tinkering with one thing or another or giving a grandkid a carpentry lesson. He loved to reminisce about his childhood in Inez and was never short on stories of the simple life growing up in Eastern Kentucky. More than anything, Gene enjoyed being with his grandchildren, who will always remember him sticking out his tongue and being quick with a joke, a snicker and a hug.

Gene is preceded in death by his father Rufus Sr. and beloved mother Emma (Johnson), brothers Haskell, Cecil, Leroy and Rufus Jr., sisters Lois and Ethel and grandchildren James “Michael” Blosser, Angelena Lajean Blosser and Faith. He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Horn (Anderson) and brother Herbert (Garnett) Horn, daughter Barbara (Ned) Mathias, step-children James (Shirley) Reed, Jeffery Reed, Jay (Kathy) Reed, Jeannette (Steven) Mullins and William Reed along with numerous grandchildren including Travis (Angelis) Blosser, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
