KERMIT, W.Va. — Residents packed Kermit on Monday to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Folks flooded Kermit Park and the surrounding areas, many wearing red, white and blue in classic Independence Day flare.

Music and laughter rang out as children played and neighbors caught up with each other.

Kermit Town Hall provided watermelon and Popsicles and, of course, the highlight of the night — a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.

Kermit Commissioner Tammy Preece Hodge said children and adults of all ages enjoy the event each year.

“Our fireworks display is as good a show as anywhere around locally,” Preece said.

From children’s games to music, the basketball court, vendors and more, Kermit was not short on a great day.
