ELKHORN CITY — A Pike County man is in jail for the alleged murder of his brother.

Kentucky State Police investigators responded May 23 to a residence on Elkhorn Creek and discovered two males had been shot.

Police say an altercation between Cody Cantrell, 36, of Elkhorn City, and his father resulted in a second altercation between brothers Cody Cantrell and Adam Cantrell.

Adam Cantrell suffered a fatal gunshot wound while Cody Cantrell sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Cody Cantrell was arrested and charged with one count of murder and one count of assault.
