Olivean Mollett-Johnson Obituary

Olivean Mollett-Johnson

1955—2022

Olivean Mollett-Johnson, 67, went home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2022, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Born March 4, 1955, in Rockhouse, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Helen Mollett. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Denny Johnson, and three sisters, Eula Dean Mollett, Iva Dean Davis and Jeanette Preece.

She is survived by one daughter, Annette (Shawn) Maynard of Tomahawk, and two sons, Scottie Johnson of Denver, Colo., and Paul Matthew Johnson of Inez; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Richie) Wells, Amanda (Brandon) Mahon, and Abigail (Austin) Staniford; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 10 siblings, Anna Spriggs, Marty Mollett, Emma Fetterly, Janet Hill, Linda Mollett, Richard Mollett, Jerry Mollett, Alice Cole, Michael Mollett and Mark Mollett, and a slew of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Olivean left her family and loved ones with a legacy of following Christ. She walked and talked daily with the Lord and left us no doubt that she had fought the good fight of faith. She was a steady rock during any storm and the consummate babysitter. She was the first call when you needed a flower or tree identified and the best junking (thrift store and yard-sale shopping) buddy. She always made sure you had enough to eat and never missed an opportunity to laugh. Our lives are infinitely better because of her influence on them, yet at this moment, we are profoundly empty from her loss.

“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” (Proverbs 31:28)

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Old Zion United Baptist of Pack Bottom, with John Preece officiating. Burial was at the Johnson Cemetery, under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
