Grand jury indicts four

INEZ — A Martin County grand jury indicted four people May 5.

James Crabtree, 24, of Paintsville, was indicted on assault in the first degree and burglary in the first degree. The indictment alleges Crabtree caused serious physical injury to David Collins of Lovely by means of a deadly instrument and entered Collins’ home with the intent to commit a crime while armed with a deadly weapon April 1. His bail is $20,000.

Benjamin Blackburn, 40, of Inez, was indicted on bail jumping in the first degree. The indictment alleges Blackburn was released from custody by the court and failed to appear March 17. His bail is $5,000.

Cory Marcum, 26, of Crum, W.Va., was indicted on bail jumping in the first degree. The grand jury alleges Marcum was released from custody by the court and failed to appear April 7. His bail is $5,000.

Rikki Spradlin, 36, of Paintsville, was indicted on bail jumping in the first degree. The indictment states Spradlin was released from custody by the court and failed to appear April 21. Her bail is $5,000.

The grand jury also issued its final report for its scheduled term that began June 3, 2021. The panel heard testimony on 85 cases, returned 73 true bills and 16 no true bills, and held no cases over to the next seated panel June 2.
