Mothers deserve our gratitude, admiration

Have you ordered flowers yet? You still have time. Mother’s Day is Sunday.

Mothers, grandmoms, aunts, fur mommas, mom friends and other inspiring mother figures in our lives deserve to be shown gratitude and admiration every day – and especially on Mother’s Day.

It is a special day of the year that we should take the time and celebrate them.

These incredible women brought us (or a loved one) into this world, taught us some of our most valuable life lessons, and are always there when we need them.

A mother is the greatest gift any of us will ever receive.

Nothing compares to her love, strength, wisdom and understanding.

William Makepeace Thackery, the 19th-century English novelist, said, “Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children.”

As our best healer, she took our childhood calamities and transformed them.

We all have our childhood stories that go something like this: “… when all of a sudden, our mother was there out of nowhere to help us at just the right moment.” (Thank the Lord for Mother.)

Giving birth and/or raising a child is a commitment of unselfishness. It’s an act of relinquishing one’s place at the center of the universe and putting a child there.

As a superpower, Moms are the coaches, multitaskers, planners, diaper changers, mediators, chauffeurs, nurses, teachers and more.

This Mother’s Day, cherish and honor your mother’s presence.

Buy the flowers.

Give her a meal that she doesn’t have to cook.

Help her with a project.

Give the mothers in your life your time.

Do anything nice to show your gratitude for her love.

Some of us don’t have our mothers with us as they have passed on, and Sunday will be a day for us to cherish and honor their memories.

To all mothers, wherever you may be, Happy Mother’s Day.
