Dixie McMaster

1942—2022

Dixie McMaster, 79, of Kermit, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Pikeville Medical Center.

Born July 4, 1942, in Logan, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Willie and Frances Sammons Fields. She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years in 2013, Don McMaster, and brothers Andy Sammons and Haskel Fields, sisters Anna Faye Stacy, Dorothy Fields Spurlock, Rosa Bell Mayhorn, Ruby Jean Fields and Beth Mayhorn. She is also preceded in death by grandson Lane Scott May and son-in-law Darrell Spaulding.

Dixie was a member of the Zion Church in Jesus Christ for over 15 years, where she enjoyed worshipping and singing for her Lord and Savior.

Dixie is survived by her children, Lisa (John) Gillman, Carol (Phillip) Stroud, Robert (Dana) Conkins, Effie (Rayburn) May, Mary Spaulding and Donald (Kayla) McMaster; grandchildren, DJ Dillon, Ricky (Melissa) Stroud, Chad Conkins, Kellie (Peabo) Kelly, Bryan (Shelby) May, Kyle Stroud, Sarah (Mark) Marcum, Alison May, William Conkins, Kaden, Cameron and Alyssa McMaster;13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved very much. She is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie (Eddie) Hatfield, Eloise (Herbie) Leininger and Lois Marcum.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Good Shepherd Nursing Facility in Phelps and to the sixth floor nursing staff at Pikeville Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Mullins Family Funeral Home, Warfield, with Rayburn May and Phillip Stroud officiating. Burial was at the Fields Cemetery on Left Fork of Marrowbone Creek Road, Kermit, W.Va., under the direction of Mullins Family Funeral Home.
