Carl Kirk

1939—2022

Carl Kirk, 82, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022, at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 8, 1939, to the late Elbert and Ruth Kirk.

Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a well-known local businessman owning and operating Kirk Trucking for 40 years. He was a faithful member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God for many years.

Much of Carl’s life revolved around drag racing, starting a legacy that runs deep in the Kirk family with three generations following his footsteps.

He is preceded in death by his son Greg Kirk, a brother JR Kirk, and one sister Eloise Vincent.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Kirk; one sister, Sue (Frank) Decarlo; two children, Tamara (Ronald) Herald and Doug (Lisa) Kirk, all of Lenore, W.Va.; his four grandchildren, Amanda (Tommy) Maynard of Inez, Nikki (Gary) Canada of Dandridge Tenn., Ashley (Greg) Browning and Justin (Adreana) Kirk, both of Lenore W.Va. Carl had 14 great-grandchildren he cherished dearly: Karlea (Blake) Butcher; Olivia, Jaxon and Navie Maynard; Kaylee and Garrett Canada; Paisley, Lakyn, Laney Bolyard, Gregory and Makenzie Browning; Braylee, Daegan and Raycer Kirk. He is also survived by special friends Rick Gravely and Wyatt Kirk.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Bethel Temple Assemblies of God in Williamson, W.Va., with Bobby Perry officiating. Burial was at the Highland Memorial Gardens in Logan, W.Va., under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
