Martin County had two hard back-to-back tennis matchups last week with Lawrence County and Belfry.

The Cardinals traveled to Lawrence County, where the boys lost 2-10 and the girls came away with a 6-6 tie April 11.

Martin County hosted Belfry April 12, with the boys coming up short 2-5 and the girls 0-7.

“I am very pleased with how our girls responded and played at Lawrence County,” Martin County coach Joshua Penix said. “Everyone is continuing to improve and grow as players. Lawrence County’s top girls, boys, and Belfry’s girls are among the top in the region. Belfry’s Harris/McNamee have won region several times and are the girls’ doubles favorites once again.”
