Free skin cancer screenings

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and King’s Daughters is offering free skin cancer screenings May 20 in Prestonsburg.

The screenings will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by dermatology nurse practitioner Elisha Porter, APRN.

Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S., and 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70. Having five or more sunburns doubles your risk for melanoma, but skin cancer can be treatable if caught early.

Spots that are irregularly shaped or have jagged borders, are uneven in color, are larger than a pea, or that have changed in the past few weeks or months should be examined.

Call 606-408-9304 for your appointment at King’s Daughters Family Care, 1279 Old Abbott Mountain Road.
