INEZ — Martin County and Betsy Layne traded the lead back and forth but eventually the Cardinals prevailed 17-15 in a game April 11 at Cardinal Park.
The game was tied at 7 with Martin County batting in the bottom of the sixth when Chase Stacy singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
There was plenty of action on the basepaths as the Cardinals collected 17 hits and Betsy Layne had five.
Martin County captured the lead in the first inning when Greyden Proctor singled on a 0-1 count scoring one run.
Betsy Layne scored three runs in the third inning on a double by Byron Tackett.
