INEZ — A Warfield man arrested last month for allegedly firing a gun multiple times in the Riverside Apartments complex was indicted Friday in Martin County.
Jonathan Jackson, 34, was indicted on wanton endangerment in the first degree and disorderly conduct in the second degree. The grand jury’s true bill says Jackson created a substantial danger to residents of Riverside and engaged in violent, threatening behavior.
Police arrested Jackson March 15 after receiving a call about someone shooting at the apartment complex in Hode. When officers arrived, they heard shots coming from inside apartment 42, which Jackson occupied. They also found five 9mm casings on the ground outside the front door.
One officer noted that Jackson appeared to be impaired and hallucinating at times.
Jackson reportedly told police he was shooting at someone who was holding his girlfriend hostage. A few minutes later, the “girlfriend” walked by the officers.
According to a neighbor, Jackson’s “girlfriend” was inside the apartment with Jackson.
“I have two bullet holes in my car, and the car next to me has three plus a broken window,” Jackson’s neighbor said. “He shot up my car and my neighbor’s, and one apartment had a bullet go through the ceiling right over top of their couch.”
