Cards defeat East Ridge, fall to Pikeville in All ‘A’

In a game that took three days and a change of venues to complete due to weather, Martin County defeated East Ridge 3-2 Thursday to advance to the semifinals in the 15th Region All “A” Classic.

Martin County pitchers allowed just six hits to East Ridge.

Dennison Davis took the win for the Cardinals.

Davis lasted six innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out seven.

Chase Preece threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Garret Jones took the loss for East Ridge. He lasted three and one-third innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out four and walking one.

Kolin Blackburn started the game for East Ridge. The pitcher lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out two and walking zero.

Martin County launched one home run on the day when Evan Crum had an in-the-park in the bottom of the fourth.

Davis, Dawson Mills and Evan Crum all had one hit to lead the Cardinals.

MC falls to PH

The Cardinals struggled to get their offense going Sunday, getting easily dispatched by the Pikeville Panthers 12-2 in the 15th Region All “A” Classic semifinal at Pikeville High School.

Pikeville got on the board in the first inning as Dylan Thompson grounded out, scoring one run.

Martin County tied things up at one in the bottom of the first, scoring on a Pikeville error.

Pikeville pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning.

Chase Preece took the loss for the Cards. Preece allowed six hits and 10 runs over four innings and struck out six.

Dawson Mills went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Martin County in hits.
