Fourteen Martin County Area Technology Center students placed at the 2022 Skills USA 15th Region Competition last month at the Paintsville campus of Big Sandy Community and Technical College.
The events involved competitive activities in various occupational skill and leadership areas.

Electrical Construction Wiring — Second place — Austin McCoy.
Job Interview — First place — Aaron Mills.
Job Skills — First place — Bradon Kirk; second place — Jacob Hunt.
Transportation Tool ID — First place — Patrick Salmons; second place — Ethan Williams.
Automotive Service Technology – First place — Billy Strickland; third Ronnie Porter.
Winners will move to the state level and may be eligible for scholarship opportunities.
Skills USA serves teachers and high school and college students preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations. The program helps establish industry standards for job training in the lab and classroom and promote community service.
Skills USA is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and is cited as a “successful model of employer-driven youth development training program” by the U.S. Department of Labor and is an OSHA Alliance partner.
