INEZ — Brittany Thompson was clutch at the plate with runners on base Thursday, driving in five on three hits to lead Martin County past Floyd Central 13-7.
Thompson drove in runs on a grand slam in the third and a triple in the fourth.
Bats blistered as the Lady Cardinals collected 10 hits and Floyd Central tallied nine in the high-scoring game.
Floyd Central got on the board in the first inning when the Lady Jaguars scored on a stolen base during Allyson Stumbo’s at bat. Then Stumbo singled, driving in one.
Martin County pulled away for good with eight runs in the third inning. Skyla Messer singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Addison Duncan was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Sophie Harless drew a walk, scoring one run, and Thompson homered on a 3-1 count, scoring four runs.
