Tennis teams split pair

WARFIELD — Martin County High School tennis teams were in action last week, splitting matches with Magoffin County at Warfield Park.

The boys’ team won 8-1 while the Lady Cards fell short 7-4 in a hard-fought battle.

In boys’ singles action Caleb Horn defeated T. Rudd 6-1, Brayden Cook defeated L. Risner 6-4, BJ Parsley defeated J. Francis 6-0, and Levi Howell defeated J. Sizemore 6-1. Cory Jarell lost one to Valandingham 2-8, and the last singles defaulted to Magoffin.

The girls had two singles wins, with Aaliyah Cline defeating E. Thacker 6-3 and Emma Gulley defeating C. Arnett 4-0.

Martin County boys came away with some big doubles wins in the meet.
