Property slipping, home in danger

BUFFALO HORN — Whenever heavy rainfall occurs, water from clogged ditch lines and drains runs across the state highway and floods Buffalo Horn resident Lester Crum’s property. This has gone on the last year, causing Crum’s property to slip to the point that his home is now in danger.

“Every time it comes a hard rain, it floods my whole yard,” Crum said. “The ditch lines and drains are all stopped up.”

Crum, nearly brought to tears, says he feels helpless and frustrated, even angry, as state officials have known about the problem the last year and done nothing.

“It started slipping last March – March 11 – and I ain’t been able to get help from anybody,” said Crum. “I’ve talked to the state, the county, FEMA, and everybody. And no help. I’ve called the judge’s office and the magistrates.”
