Brady Dingess receives awards in Lexington

LEXINGTON — Martin County senior Brady Dingess received his Mr. Kentucky Basketball candidate award in a ceremony Sunday night at Lexington’s Griffin Gate.

The 6-1 point guard amassed 2,664 points and 864 assists during his stellar career at Martin County. He averaged 26.9 ppg, 5.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.7 steals, shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 77.3 percent from the free-throw line in his senior campaign. His highest-scoring game was 50 points (shooting 75 percent) in February.

Dingess, named 15th Region Player of the Year by the KABC, led the Cardinals to a 20-plus season, the 57th District championship, and an appearance in the regional semifinals this season. He earned a spot on the regional all-tournament team.
