CORBIN — Martin County Middle School wrestler Brayden Fannin finished fifth in the 121-pound weight class at the KFWC Middle School State Championship held Saturday at the Corbin Arena.
The Region 4 champion, Fannin went 3-2 on the day, pinning Landon Windeler of Highlands in 32 seconds to claim fifth place. He defeated Shamrock Wrestling’s Jack Frederick in his opening round 16-0, then pinned Windeler in 33 seconds in the quarterfinal. He lost 2-0 to Ryle’s Callen Schmidt in the semifinal and 10-0 to Boyle County’s Ethan Masters in the consolation semifinal.
Teammate Brody Jewell went 2-2 on the day in the 75-pound class, pinning Eli Campbell of Trigg County in 1:12 in the opening round, losing to Max Nance of Ryle in the quarterfinal, winning 4-3 over Aiden Brinkman of Ryle in the consolation round 4, and losing the last round to Brealyn Jeminez of Oldham County.
Jeremy Mollett went 2-2 on the day in the 80-pound class.
Ashton Maynard went 4-2 on the day in the 113-pound class.
